I’m Priscilla Mayfield, a proud mother, entrepreneur, and businesswoman who has built Melanin Coffee Co., from the ground up through passion, resilience, and unwavering determination. My journey hasn’t been easy. Like many women in business, I’ve faced numerous challenges, from overcoming adversity to breaking through barriers that often seem unbreakable. But with every obstacle, I’ve grown stronger and more committed to achieving my vision. At Melanin Coffee Co, we believe that success is not just about what you achieve but about how you lift others up along the way. My mission is to create more than just a thriving business. I am aiming to inspire, empower, and lead by example. Every product, service, and interaction is a reflection of the strength and perseverance that brought us here. At Melanin Coffee Co., we believe that every cup of coffee should tell a story—a story of culture, resilience, and the power of community. Our journey began with a simple but powerful idea: to create a space where coffee lovers from all walks of life could come together and experience the richness of African heritage through the world’s most beloved brew.
As a Black-owned business, we felt a deep connection to the roots of coffee, which trace back to the ancient lands of Ethiopia. Coffee is more than a drink; it’s a symbol of tradition, community, and culture. We wanted to honor that legacy while also creating something new—a brand that reflects the strength, beauty, and diversity of the Black experience.
